The journal
Updated 8 September 2026, afternoon. Kept in step by the agents at the end of every session.
The journal page is finished: three outside reviews and our own audit panel agree, and the page, the shop, four guides and the film page are all in Google's index since 4 September.
Almost nobody has found it yet. In the last 30 days the shop had 39 visits, and 37 of them were us checking pages. So nothing is broken on the page; the work now is doors people can walk through: Google Shopping, Pinterest, Kari's own Facebook and Instagram, Amazon through the printer, and the people who already know Kari.
Search results take weeks to move, so the next honest readings are dated: 8 September (Google Merchant Center review), 9 September (first funnel window), 19 September (replies to the eight outreach emails), 23 September (Google and Bing positions).
Today, together
smallest asks first; about 30 minutes, 20 of them the photos
- Kari + David 2 min Printer distribution: say yes or no, and the price
Decided 6 Sep (David): yes, £18.99 is fine, both switches on. The switching job ran 7 Sep and could not finish: the printer wants a payment on the ISBN edition first (Pay Now on their Library page, amount shown £5.02, no breakdown; David presses it), then the job reruns. 9 Sep: the printer confirmed the wire-bound edition sells through every shop on their network, so no glued edition is needed for that; David pays, the job reruns. Two switches at Bookvault put the journal on Amazon, Gardners and The Great British Bookshop with no seller account. Decide: price £18.99 to match the site, both switches on. Also decide today: a perfect-bound (glued) sibling edition of the same pages for Amazon and the trade, because those channels do not take wire binding. The wire-bound one stays ours, on the site. A Mini job does the switching.
- Kari 2 min Facebook page and Instagram logins into Bitwarden
Now on your Things to do list (7 Sep). Nobody needs adding as admin. Once the logins are in the vault, the Mini signs in as you and reposts every Google post to both, with product tags. If either login is your Google account, there is nothing to add.
- David 20 min Photos: holding it, open flat, wire close-up, on a table
David takes these (6 Sep: Kari would rather not, so it comes off her list). Phone camera, JPG, daylight, no text in the frame. The shot list is on the photo-shoot page. These become gallery picture one, the Amazon and Etsy listings, and the answer to press asks.
- Kari 3 min Etsy login into Bitwarden, and a yes on the listing text
Read the title and the first paragraph of the paste pack; if those two are right, the yes covers the pack. The July block on the Etsy account was a failed £2.80 card charge, not anything we wrote; a valid card on file fixes it.
- Kari 1 min One number: hours a week you want to give product work, if any
Answered 8 Sep (David): 10 hours a week, to start with. That is enough for a second paid product to be built alongside the journal, so a second product is on; what it is gets planned separately. (6 Sep it was "as long as it takes"; the number replaces that.) Kari's time is still the scarce thing, so product work is shaped to need as little of it as possible, or to ride along with the services work.
- Kari 5 min The open cards on the sit-down sheet
Answered 8 Sep: yes to all fourteen (via David). The review-mining questions and the misprint line went live the same afternoon; the personalised page waits for the proof copy and your wording.
- David as they come Any SMS code a sign-up asks for
Agreed this week
what changed and why
- Kari + David Personalised printing: yes. The shape of the page is the next decision
David said yes on 6 Sep to asking the printer for per-copy printing. What still needs deciding is what goes on the personalised page: which words, which pictures, where on the page. That is on the sit-down sheet as k11.
- Kari + David A personalised journal: "Make it theirs, or yours"
Because every copy is printed after it is ordered, a buyer can add a first name, a few words and who it is from, on one page near the front, at no extra print cost. David said yes; Kari loves the idea. On the demo journal page now: since 11 Sep, Add to basket asks once (write a page, or just the journal), the page is written full screen, and it is shown as it prints before it goes in. Name on the cover as a small paid extra comes next. Two proposals are Kari's to decide on the sit-down sheet: letting buyers pick which skills pages go in, and the line we never cross (buyer words on any other page). Later on 11 Sep: a photo is checked and saved the moment it is picked (a bad file is refused there, not at checkout), and a buyer can ask for a link by email to come back to their basket and page from any phone or computer; no password, no sign-up form, and a "forget me" on the basket page. Photos and print files are deleted 30 days after a journal is sent, as the terms say. Later still on 11 Sep: a "your orders" page, where a buyer sees what they bought, where a printed journal has got to, and can fetch a fresh download link for a digital item without emailing us. And journals bought together are now printed and posted together as one parcel, so the buyer's single delivery charge matches what the printer charges us.
- Kari Three new questions on the journal page, from reading 313 reviews of other anxiety journals
The most repeated praise for any anxiety journal is "it gave me somewhere to start"; the most repeated complaint is "every page is the same". So the demo page now answers "What if I don't know what to write?", "How is the book laid out?" and "What if a page is misprinted?" (send a photo, we print another, you keep yours). Your words to check before they go live.
- David UK first, then outwards
The UK is about a tenth of English-language searches for "anxiety journal" (590 a month here, 4,400 in the US). We start here because the UK results are small shops we can stand beside, the printer is here, and reviews are earned once and travel with the brand. The US route for the product is Amazon, through the printer's distribution and a perfect-bound edition, not our own checkout. "Personalised journal" has 1,000 UK searches a month of its own, so the personalised copy is a second door into the same room.
Waiting on someone, or on time
nothing to do until these land
- David done 8 Sep Bookvault: personalised (per-copy) printing is on, code in place
The printer answered on Sunday night: per-copy printing is on for every account, no extra cost per copy, and the product code is built from their help page. We built it, checked it against their order validator (about £9 a copy delivered) and set it on the site on 8 Sep. Next: the first personalised proof copy to Kari, about £9, paid by David through the printer's payment link, from /admin/orders/.
- time 8 Sep Google Merchant Center review of the journal listing
- agents 9 Sep First funnel window: are real visitors arriving, and where from
- time 19 Sep Replies to the eight outreach emails (journal press and links)
- agents 23 Sep Google and Bing positions for the journal and the guides
- Kari Kari's sentence for the "no reviews yet" line, and the edition-two list
The path outward
UK first, then Amazon, then abroad; in order
- Kari + David today (blitz) Amazon, Gardners, The Great British Bookshop via the printer
Needs the perfect-bound edition for Amazon and the trade.
- agents after the Etsy login Etsy listing
Paste pack is ready; the Mini lane lists it.
- agents this week Free printables as page-products, with a sample-PDF email sign-up
A sign-up happens three to five times more often than a sale, so the page gets a number that moves.
- David after two decisions (account name, AI disclosure) Amazon.com through KDP, US price
Same perfect-bound file.
- agents about a day, when wanted Checkout that ships abroad
Countries, postage bands, dollar display.
- printer after Bookvault's answer Personalised copies abroad
Either Bookvault ships a UK-printed copy abroad, or a US print partner (Lulu) prints it there.
- agents early October Gifts page for December ("anxiety relief gifts" spikes then)
The personalised copy is the gift.
